Living Green at Palo Alto Hardware


	At Palo Alto Hardware, “living green” is more than just a catchphrase. We work hard to put into place systems and programs that are environmentally friendly as we run our business, in addition to stocking and selling products that will help you live green.

Reusable tote bags
We encourage you to buy and use reusable tote bags. When you buy something in our store, every bag that you bring in means one less plastic or paper bag going home with you. And every time you bring your own bag, we donate a nickel to Palo Alto public schools. We like to think globally and act locally – and we think that together we can save the planet for future generations.

So what do we do for the environment?

As a Retailer:
In terms of what we sell, we have a strong commitment to Palo Alto. We have partnered with the City of Palo Alto and are a “PaloAltoGreen Program” supporter. For more information about this program, you can go to the City of Palo Alto's PaloAltoGreen Program page.

Following is a sampling of some of the earth friendly products that we have available:

Less toxic garden supplies
Solar clothes dryers (okay, that’s a clothesline and clothespins!)
Compact fluorescent light bulbs
Bosch® tankless water heaters (by special order)
Solar attic fans
Battery rechargers and rechargeable batteries
Reusable tote bags – for groceries, hardware, and other errands you run. Keep a few in your car.

A Palo Alto Hardware Associate must be present to accept the lighting.

A note about us:
We were one of the first businesses on the Peninsula to go solar. Our store is powered by solar panels. We have a strong recycling program and, of course, use fluorescent lighting throughout the store.
